Chief IoT Network Researcher
Location: Munich, Germany

Our newly founded Network Technology P&S (Product & Solution) European Branch Division will play a leading role in researching new technology and delivering specific solutions for next generation networks including Internet, Enterprise, IOT, Industrial Ethernet. To build up a high level expert team in the European Research Center in Munich, we are searching for a Chief IoT Network Researcher with a specific focus on Industrial solutions.

Position Responsibility:
Responsible for developing industry leading research strategies and developing breakthrough network solutions in the field of industrial IOT to position the company's network technology solutions within the industrial IOT domain creating new business value. This is a key position within the department and requires a person with demonstrated track record of leading research teams, patent generation and a recognised industry technology expert.

Ideally you are in senior technologist leadership position within Industrial OEM Research and Development organisation, you are a passionate technologist in the area of networking technology and have driven next generation industry 4.0 solutions. You have demonstrated ability to envision the future and have the technical leadership skills to drive concept through to product roadmap impact. You have developed a large network of technology partnerships with OEM's and academic community in Europe.

Position KPI:

  • Lead the strategic research agenda for Industrial IoT, patent strategy and translate research / Proof of concepts into network product line impact,
  • Build and Lead the research team to deliver breakthrough technologies in Industry 4.0,
  • Develop Huawei IoT industry ecosystem with the lab Director,
  • Differentiate Huawei's IOT platform/solution from other competitors.

Work experience & Professional

  • PhD or Equivalent experience in Computer Science/software engineering/networking within industrial research organisation,
  • 10+ year's work experience in the field of industrial automation /IOT with leading industrial OEM,
  • Leading technologist in the areas of industrial networking protocols, field bus and edge computing platforms,
  • Demonstrated leadership in inventing new technologies leading to product impact and creating patent portfolios,
  • Demonstrated leadership (chair distinct advantage) across industry alliance forums and / or standards groups,
  • Developed academic research community to forward their research agenda, has played leading, role in securing external government funding through collaborative research projects,
  • Experience in one of the following industry (such as Manufacturing, industrial automation, Electrical, Industry 4.0).

Key Skillset:

  • Deep technology expertise in industrial IoT protocols with foresight to identify current gaps and drive high value technology roadmap,
  • Experience in IoT edge computing platforms and OT/IT convergence strategies,
  • Has a deep insight into industrial trends and ability to position the company for commercial success.
  • Provide technical support and guideline/direction to the standards team, including the development of standard strategy,
  • Provide technical support to the product development and design team, the market technical support team,
  • Lead and develop junior researchers to progress their technical skills and careers,
  • Fluent English and German is a must.
