Based in Cologne, the DFL Digital Sports GmbH (DFL DS) is a 100% subsidiary of the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH. DFL DS produces and publishes media content via a variety of digital platforms on their behalf. Including the production of content for international markets and the implementation of the league’s own platforms.

We are looking to grow the development team further in Cologne to develop the next generation of digital football content. As a Frontend Web Developer you will form an integral part of the dev team running all our content related services. You’ll have the opportunity to be involved across the full product portfolio of football. From working with consumer facing applications such as live match day reporting through to internal services and new innovation projects. We are focused on employing the latest software engineering techniques and processes to deliver world class solutions. As a part of this team you’ll have day to day exposure to continuous deployment, unit testing, agile and other best practice engineering approaches. You’ll be given the opportunity to take responsibility, learn and contribute across functional teams. As a part of the wider Product and Technology team you’ll have an interest in both the technical solutions and the end user product.

Frontend Web Developer (m/f)



●      Development of the digital Bundesliga platforms using JS, CSS and HTML

●      Building performant frontend products with a focus on quality and modern tool/build chains

●      Integration of external APIs into existing products

●      Use and further development of our continuous delivery and continuous deployment processes

●      Work in a highly motivated development team of internal and external developers using agile methods

●      Analyse use cases and help contribute to product requirements

●      Collaborate with different functional teams and contribute through development, testing and documentation


Minimum Qualifications

●      University degree (computer science or similar) or equivalent experience

●      At least 3 years of work experience

●      Interest in Web Standards such as W3C, HTML5, CSS3, ES6

●      Knowledge of CSS pre-processors, task runners such as GRUNT and associated libraries

●      Experience with some of the following jQuery, Angular 2+ or React

●      Experience using package managers such as NPM or Bower

●      Experience with serverside / clientside templates and CMS

●      Experience building mobile responsive websites

●      Experience in agile development with Scrum

●      Experience with Git and Git workflows

●      Experience in SEO using meaningful HTML, JSON-LD, Twitter cards, OpenGraph tags, Google Search Console

●      Good English skills, spoken and written

Preferred Qualifications

●         Experience building for mobile PWA, WebViews and hybrid mobile such as Ionic

●      Good understanding of backend services

●      Experience with cloud services such as Amazon Web Services EC2, ECR, S3 and CloudFormation

●      Knowledge of continuous integration, continuous delivery and continuous deployment with Jenkins

●      Interest in software testing: unit testing, integration tests and performance testing

●      Experience in caching and high performance applications

●      Experience in performance optimisation using a scientific approach, supported by tools such as New Relic Browser, Pingdom RUM, Google PageSpeed Insights and



●      Good team player

●      Good communication skills both written and verbal

●      Adept at solution-oriented work with high autonomy

●      Quality focused

●      Curiosity for new technologies and techniques

●      Desire to be constantly learning and improving

●      Ability to constructively contribute to the agile process
