TASKS

The Product Manager is responsible for setting a product vision and strategy. His/her job is to clearly articulate the business value to the product development team so they understand the intent behind the new product or product release. He/she plans the strategy behind the product roadmap and must work with the engineering team to build what matters.

The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for defining the market position within the context of the overall product strategy. This means the Product Marketing Manager should conduct competitor analysis, market research, and be tight with the sales team to inform the strategic positioning of the product to customers, partners and market influencers.

In your role you primarily act as the product owner and make sure that the customer and market needs are turned into reality by defining specifications and use cases and by constantly interacting with the product development. Messaging and enablement towards marketing, sales and service to make sure that new releases are successfully introduced into the market.

These activities will be analysis, evaluation and documentation of trends in the market, and heavily weighted towards understanding and anticipating consumer, industry and competitive trends, developing product roadmap strategy plans to take advantage of those trends while collaborating with the New Product Development (NPD) team to ensure that products are developed in accordance with strategic plans, managing the launch of products and enhancements into the marketplace.

Control of all new product launches from a commercial point of view in close cooperation with the product development management and the European headquarters.

This position is responsible for overseeing, coordinating and contributing to the business activities related to a product’s lifecycle. The main function of this position is to manage the Innovation, New Product Planning, and New Product Introduction and Management phases of the product lifecycle model shown below.

INNOVATION

  • Accountable for defining market research goals and provide direction to those involved in creating and executing a market research plan.
  • Works with other parties to seek out consumer, industry and competitive data and uses it to develop a keen market awareness and insights to drive strategic and tactical product line planning, including regulatory requirements for the business.
  • Defines target segmentation based on common consumer requirements and preferences.
  • Conducts competitive analysis and develops insights based on understanding main competitor’s strengths and weaknesses, the products or services they sell, how they are positioned and the segments on which they concentrate.
  • Documents and regularly shares market information, insights and implications with functional stakeholders to ensure a common understanding and the impact on the product planning.
  • Responsible for developing a strategic baseline and a documented "vision" or "end-statement" for the product or product line that helps shape realistic and achievable goals.
  • Continuously gathers and analyzes market, financial and other performance indicators to uncover new opportunities for products and product lines.
  • Develops product objectives that can be measured or tracked over time to determine how well the product's results contribute to the company’s success.
  • Develops the long-term product portfolio and roadmap including sales channel differentiation.
  • Communicates the product line vision and strategy widely and conducts periodic strategic reviews to ensure that cross-functional stakeholders are aligned.

NEW PRODUCT PLANNING

  • Accountable for overseeing development projects and managing project scope to facilitate feature, cost and schedule trade-off decisions to ensure that product goals and launch timings are met.
  • Accountable for managing the risks associated with the development and launch of the product.
  • Recommends GO/NO decisions at appropriate points in the NPD process to ensure that only those projects that are fit for commercialization proceed.
  • Leads and synchronizes the efforts of the cross-functional team who will execute the launch plan and carry out the work required for a successful on-time launch.
  • Accountable for ensuring that contents for marketing programs, sales guides and sales training are prepared.
  • Responsible for preparing the product launch plan and for making the final launch decision and coordinating the announcement.

NEW PRODUCT INTRODUCTION AND MANAGEMENT

  • Accountable for gathering information on consumer satisfaction, competitor actions, sales channel performance, impact of promotional programs, and other marketing mix elements, and responsible for regular evaluation of the defined KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
  • Tracks the lifecycle state of the product and recommends adjustments to the marketing mix as needed.
  • Conducts regular product reviews with cross-functional stakeholders to review product performance against stated objectives and goals.
  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).

QUALIFICATION

  • University degree in International Business, Business Management, Marketing or a comparable degree.
  • 5-7 years of working experience.
  • Experience in definition and management of requirements.
  • Experience in working with engineers and sales to define and develop which are aligned with business vision.
  • Strong analytical, numeric and strategic thinking.
  • Teamwork and communication skills, strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, confident in project management and reporting.
  • Self-motivated team player with a pro-active “can-do” mentality.
  • Independent and structured work style.
  • German and English business fluent – spoken and written.
  • Good knowledge of common office applications Excel, Word, Powerpoint.
